St.Moritz, situated in swiss canton Graubünden is a name in its own right. This town, placed on a bank of homonic lake is well known by every winter sport lover, thanks to its charm, beautiful nature, history and wide supply of sports.
The very first mentions of the town are connected with healing springs and become from 1139. But for us, winter spor lovers, 1864 is important: this year is considered to be a beginning of winter tourism in Alps.
This year hotel proprietor Johannes Badrutt and his four english guests, spending summer holiday in his hotel, made a bet. Theese english gentlemen were to come to St.Moritz also in winter. If they did not like it, J.Badrutt would pay the ticket from London to St.Morits and back. If they liked it, they could stay as long as they want. Finally, they stayed since Christmass till Easter.
