By the time before first Europeans arrived to America, there was a little plantation on the edge of Coviahue lake. This was the meeting and celebration place of  native indians Mapuche (Coviahue means in Mapuche language „place of jamboree and celebration). Nowadays you would seek for a party superfluously. But what is not today, may come tomorrow. Increasing number of tourists leads to the fact, hostels and little „family“ accomodation appears very quickly. There´s no surprise. All the region is very attractive during the whole year.
The main touristic attraction is swimming in the sanative 
Ski resort Cerro Caviahue can not - in the matter of slope lenght and number of tow - compete with bigger and more famous rivals (Las leňas and Cerro Catedral Bariloche), but despite that skiers of all levels will find nice and well maintained slopes and free-ride tracks.
