Ski resort Corralco wich lay out on the edge of active volcano Lonquimay (last outburst happened in 1988) is 15 km from townlet Lonquimay. On the way to the resort you will go through the longest South American tunnel Las Raíces (4 528 m).
Corralco is the youngest ski resort in Chile, so it is propable that its endowement will improve in future. Nowadays offers the best conditions for skialpinism, who attempt to reach the top of the volcane. I can say from my own experience that ascent to 2865 m high volcano with 1 265 m superelevation and folowing downhill race is extremely beautiful enjoiment.
